It’s like getting a first class seating assignment for patients choosing Nason
Hospital’s new MRI. One of the world’s most popular magnets, the Siemens
MAGNETOM Symphony 1.5T MRI has both power and class. Through a
collaborative arrangement, Nason Hospital and King’s Medical Group are offering
state-of-the-art MRI services on a full-time basis. Nason Hospital’s Radiology
Department expanded 1,200 square feet to accommodate the magnet.
The speed and ease of the MAGNETOM equals happier patients. Adults
and children benefit from the cutting-edge design with increased patient
comfort. The fixed MRI unit features shorter scan times, an open design,
and feet-first access for many exams to ease anxiety. Patient options for
breath holding and free-breathing exams are a relaxation bonus.
MRI performance is accelerated for patients and referring physicians. The
MAGNETOM has applications that make it an outstanding player in the field of MRI.
For example, Nason is now able to offer breast MRI. This technology helps the
radiologist distinguish between malignant and benign lesions and can detect cancers
that are otherwise difficult to diagnose. The system will also have a full array of
specialty coils for musculoskeletal, spine, vascular, and neurological imaging.

With a Bachelor of Science from Juniata
College and a medical degree from the
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine,
Dr. Fred Heaton, a Roaring Spring native,
now practices family medicine alongside his
colleague, Dr. Ramon Burket. A long-standing
physician on the Nason Hospital Medical
Staff, Dr. Burket is also a Juniata College
graduate and received his degree in medicine
from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Burket began his practice in Roaring
Spring in 1965. He fondly remembers
Dr. Heaton’s grandfather, who also practiced
at Nason. “Dr. Vincent Heaton was a hard
worker and cared deeply for his patients. My
experience with Dr. Fred Heaton is that he
is following in his grandfather’s footsteps.”
Dr. Burket continues, “I have always tried
to do my very best to help my patients.
Importantly, I want to reassure my patients
that they have a ‘medical home’ at Nason.”
Dr. Fred Heaton shares, “It’s a privilege to
join the Nason Hospital Medical Staff and
have the opportunity to give back to the
community. I’m very grateful for the warm
homecoming and am happy to be back.”
